Feel the power of your full potential.
Some dabbers think of carb caps as a secondary accessory, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Carb caps allow dabbers to experience the full potential of their domeless nails and savor every bit of oil.
If you dab without a carb cap, you’ll be constantly pulling cold air into the chamber of your nail. This flow of air will cool down your oil before you’re able to enjoy all of the flavors your terps have to offer. You have to take higher temp dabs if you’re not using a carb cap—and we’ve already been over how high temp dabs are both uncomfortable and terp-destroying!
So what makes a carb cap so essential?
A carb cap offers two different functions: airflow restriction and heat retention. These two functions work together to deliver a very flavorful dabbing experience, but let’s break them down:
You may have noticed the small holes in qfz-style banger carb caps or caps fit for domeless titanium and ceramic nails. These holes work to restrict the air that enters nail, changing the ratio of oxygen to oil-vapor that you’re inhaling. This restriction enables dabbers to better taste their concentrates by preventing them from being diluted by excess oxygen.
As the carb cap restricts airflow, it enables the nail to retain heat for a longer period of time. When you place a carb cap on top of a nail, it essentially turns the nail into a convection oven. The hot air is constantly circulating within the nail and cap, allowing the nail to maintain its heat for a short period of time.
Once you’ve got a good handle on nail temperatures and wait times, this extra heat retention will enable you to maintain your ideal dabbing temperature long enough to taste all of your terps.
